According to the CrossFit Games official website, this grueling two-day competition pits the world’s fittest athletes against each other in a variety of functional, high-intensity workouts to determine who is “the fittest person on the planet.”
It is our considered opinion that the CrossFit Games are the best test on the planet for true, elite fitness, and that the winners of the CrossFit Games are the World’s Fittest humans.”
The workouts for the competition won’t be announced until just days before the event, which means the athletes have been training for a competition whose format is still a mystery.

If you watch the trailer below for the CrossFit Games’ documentary “Every Second Counts,” you’ll understand why CrossFit is as much a test of mental fitness as it is of physical fitness. Starting this Friday, July 10th through Sunday, July 12th, there will be three different competitions to determine the 2009 CrossFit Games’ “World’s Fittest Humans” for Individual Men, Individual Women, and the team Affiliate Cup.
The individual competitions are limited to 75 athletes each. The top five finishers from 2008 are automatically entered. Everyone else had to qualify through their Regional Competition. Here in the Northwest, the Regional Qualifiers include:
